Pressure Washing vs. Soft Washing: Which Does Your Home Need?

What Is Pressure Washing?

Pressure washing uses high-pressure water (typically 2,500-4,000 PSI) to blast away dirt, grime, oil stains, and buildup from hard surfaces like concrete driveways, brick and stone, garage floors, pool decks, and retaining walls.

What Is Soft Washing?

Soft washing uses low-pressure water (under 500 PSI) combined with specialized cleaning solutions to safely clean delicate surfaces. The cleaning solutions do the heavy lifting. Soft washing is essential for roof shingles, vinyl and aluminum siding, stucco exteriors, wood decks and fences, screen enclosures, and painted surfaces.

Why the Distinction Matters

Using high pressure on your roof can strip granules from shingles, crack tiles, void warranties, and force water under shingles causing leaks. Using high pressure on siding can dent vinyl, force water behind siding, strip paint, and damage window seals.
